Water Damage Claims

Water damage to a property can be caused by many different events such as a leaking roof, refrigerator or dishwasher line leaking, a pipe burst, a malfunction of a fire sprinkler, shower pan, water heater, or air-conditioning failures among many others. If you live in a condominium or your office is in a high-rise, water damage is often caused by a water leak from an above unit. Water damage can also be caused by external factors such as wind, hail, flood, or even a vehicle running into your property. We can assist with any type of water damage claim.

It is extremely important to address water damage immediately. Report the claim as soon as possible, but also take immediate steps to document and mitigate the damages. Water damage can lead to mold, decay, and other damages to your property if left unattended or untreated. These resulting damages may not be covered under the insurance policy.

Sometimes the loss causing the water damage is not covered, but the resulting or ensuing loss is covered. An example is a dishwasher leak or a pipe burst. The dishwasher is not covered and you will be responsible for the repair or replacement, but if the water from the leaking dishwasher caused damage to the flooring those damages may be covered. Likewise, with a pipe burst in the slab, the pipe itself is likely not covered, but the damage from the water is often covered as well as the damage necessary to dig up the slab to replace the pipe.

Many times the insurance company may simply say the loss isn’t covered. As such, it is important to contact an experienced attorney to review your policy and determine if the loss or a portion of the loss should have been covered by the insurance company. OUR SERVICES
“A local roofing company installed a new concrete tile roof on my home with a stated 15-year warranty. One year later the roof developed a serious leak resulting in interior ceiling damage. The roofing company agreed to repair the roof on warranty but refused to make interior ceiling repairs caused by the roof leaking.
Mr. Hans Haar went right to work and sent a demand letter to the company, citing specific state statutes to validate his demands and authority in producing the information and services requested.
Two days later, the owner of the roofing company personally contacted me and within a week later all interior and exterior damages were completely repaired to my satisfaction! Hans Haar moves fast and effectively on your case and seemed to truly care about the outcome for his client. Highly recommended!!!”
